Robin and David are forever grateful to their kind, clever, (wonderfully devious?) friends for how their love story began: A weekend trip involving a hike to a hot spring in a canyon, dinner at a local restaurant, a drive-in movie night, a charming hotel - and they were smitten by the time they drove back home to Los Angeles. They were oblivious to the behind-the-scenes planning and the motive in their friends’ gentle suggestions of “sit here, next to Robin!” and “oh, you can both watch the movie in David’s car” and finally “sorry, we have to leave early - but you should totally ride back to L.A. with David!!” Which Robin did, and the rest, as they say, is history.

One of the first things about David that Robin noticed was his care and consideration on this first adventure; packing refreshments for the hike and making sure to leave the trail better than they found it. Later on that day, impressing her with the heated seats in his car, and going to get them popcorn while Robin stayed cozy. David’s thoughtful approach to others, to his work, and to the world resonated with Robin’s style, and this shared outlook has remained a constant in their relationship.

Robin took David completely by surprise, he had never met anyone that noticed how much he cared about small details. He took a big swing early on while dating and decided to meet Robin in New Zealand for a vacation. Traveling together sealed the deal for David, knowing they could face the challenges of international travel with good humor and a sense of adventure made him realize Robin was the one for him.

David and Robin’s loving and sincere support for each other, their friends and families, and their greater community has been a throughline in their lives. Warm hugs, kind words, and a cup of coffee (or tea) are always on standby at their house. When they started to envision their wedding day, Robin and David knew they wanted their wedding to be a mindful event that would bring their closest family and friends together in joyous celebration, and also direct resources back into their local community. All their wedding decisions and vendor selections have been guided by this ethos, and they are so excited to introduce their guests to the “real” Los Angeles they know and love.
